What are the requirements to be in Delta Mu Delta?

  • Students must be registered in the business program at a school with a Delta Mu Delta Chapter; must have completed one-half of the required degree course-work; must be in the top 20 percent of their class; must have 24 hours residency at the school.
  • For Baccalaureates, they must have a cumulative GPA of .25 above a "B" 
  • For Graduate/Doctoral students, they must have a cumulative GPA of .60 above a "B" 

What is the history of Delta Mu Delta?

Delta Mu Delta is an international honor society that recognizes academic excellence in Baccalaureate, Master's, and Doctorate degree business administration programs at the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs-accredited schools.

  • Delta Mu Delta was founded by the Dean from Harvard University and four professors from Yale University and New York University in November, 1913.
  • Delta Mu Delta, DMD, was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1952.
  • In 1992 the Society established an affiliation with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, ACBSP.
  • Delta Mu Delta is the International Honor Society for business programs accredited by ACBSP at the baccalaureate, graduate and doctoral levels.

Based on the information, here is our review:

Our first observation is: that this is an international Business Honor Society, meaning that the ability to network with alumni is not limited to the US--it extends to the rest of the world, as well. 

Our second observation was: many societies only recognize Undergraduate or Graduate students, but this also recognizes student pursuing their Doctorate degrees.

Our third observation was: that other than the acknowledgement for federal employment and a resume builder, we’re not sure how this differs in terms of other business societies. It claims to be superior, but the benefits remain largely similar.
